
Maggie Bridger is a sick and disabled dance & fiber artist, scholar, and access worker interested in reimagining pain through the creative process. Maggie is a 2022 City of Chicago Individual Artist Program grantee and has held artist residencies through High Concept Labs, the Chicago Cultural Center's Learning Lab, Synapse Arts, the University of Chicago, and Chicago Dancemakers Forum. Her choreographic work has been shown at The Steppenwolf as part of its LookOut series, Elevate Chicago Dance 2022, The Art Institute of Chicago, Cottey College, and CounterBalance, among others. Maggie is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Her writing has been published in the Canadian Journal of Disability Studies, Le Sociographe and the Journal of Cultural and Literary Disability Studies. In addition to her position at the University of Chicago, she is a lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Membership Manager for the Dance Studies Association.
