The year is 2012. Strings Attached is the tale of self-discovery of a puppet named Walt who thinks he's a human being, and his actual human brother Jason, who is under pressure to propose to his girlfriend of ten years, Amy. After a disastrous first proposal attempt, Jason, Amy, and Walt take a trip to Niagara Falls that ends in disaster yet again after an evil oil baron, Dallas, interrupts their plans.
