Ahalya Satkunaratnam is Associate Professor of Humanities at Oakton College. Her book, Moving Bodies, Navigating Conflict: Practicing Bharata Natyam in Colombo, Sri Lanka (Wesleyan University Press), won the 2021 de La Torre Bueno® First Book Award from the Dance Studies Association. You can find her essays in publications such as Rethinking Women's and Gender Studies (Volume 2), Dance Research Journal, Women's Studies Quarterly, and SAMAR: South Asian Magazine for Action and Reflection. 2022 marked the release of her first dance film, AGNI, an exploration of fire and war. She lives on the traditional and unceded lands of many Indigenous peoples, including the Council of Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations (Chicago).
