The Companion is a powerful multi-media live stage production that delves into the profound themes of love, connection, and human rights. The story centers on Zemi, our protagonist, who shares a deep bond with her long-deceased great-grandmother, a Herero survivor of the German death camps in Namibia (circa 1900).

Set against the dual backdrops of contemporary America and colonial German South-West Africa, this play weaves together an oral history with a compelling call to action. Through Zemi's journey, audiences are invited to explore the crucial relationship between human rights and the protection of democracy, emphasizing the need for accountability from political systems and institutions.

The Companion utilizes a blend of traditional storytelling, multimedia elements, and live performance to create an immersive experience that resonates deeply with its audience. By connecting the past with the present, this production aims to inspire reflection and activism, highlighting the enduring importance of historical memory and civic responsibility.
