Dedicated to amplifying voices from underrepresented communities, our August Wilson New Play Initiative celebrates diversity, creativity, and inclusivity in the theater. This initiative provides playwrights from marginalized backgrounds with a platform to showcase their work and share their unique perspectives.

Through a series of readings, we aim to foster community connections, spark meaningful conversations, and shine a spotlight on stories that are often overlooked in mainstream theater. By amplifying these voices, we hope to enrich the cultural landscape and promote greater understanding and empathy among audiences.

Our ultimate goal is to support the continued development of these plays, nurturing them towards successful productions in our upcoming seasons. Through the August Wilson New Play Initiative, we are committed to championing emerging playwrights and bringing their powerful stories to the stage.
