Directing the Classics
Directing
This course introduces students to classical plays ranging from the Greeks, to Shakespeare, to Anton Chekhov; and gives them the tools on how to approach staging these productions. Students will learn leadership, creative vision, communication, and collaboration skills by studying the work of directors working on classic texts. They will find connections between these plays and the world today and engage in critical discussion around theatre's impact in society. The quarter will culminate with student presentations of a production concept for one of the plays studied in the course.
