Chicago Performance Lab (CPL), is a hands-off developmental residency dedicated to solo artists, creative partners, and organizations in discovery. Presented by the Committee on Theater and Performance Studies at the University of Chicago, our mission is to provide an authentic, uninhibited environment where artists can explore, experiment, and refine their work without external influence or prescribed outcomes.
CPL offers space and time for artistic development, allowing creators to shape their projects on their own terms. Whether for individual artists, collaborative duos, or organizations, we serve as a resource for those seeking a supportive yet non-intrusive setting to cultivate new ideas.
