The Dance Council is a newly created co-curricular program with Theater and Performance Studies, involving more then 300 students, 7 productions annually, with a sweeping range of forms from Ballet to Bhangra.

RSOs participating in the Dance Council
Apsara provides a forum for the practice, discussion and performance of the Indian classical dance styles (including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Odissi, and Kathak). It also seeks to make the art forms directly accessible to the University community by holding classes, workshops, and lecture demonstrations.
Ballroom and Latin Dance Association is dedicated to promoting the awareness and appreciation of ballroom and latin dances on campus, as well as providing affordable weekly social dance classes in anything from Salsa to Rumba.
Bhangra The members of Balle Bhangra, the University of Chicago Bhangra Team, aim to promote Bhangra as a dance and an art form to the university community and the greater Chicagoland area while improving their own skills through performance and competition opportunities with groups from around the country.
Chicago Swing Dance Society The Chicago Swing Dance Society (CSDS) is Chicago's longest-running non-profit organization dedicated to the expansion, promotion, and preservation of the Lindy Hop and jazz music through social dances, class sessions, and workshops. We serve the student body at University of Chicago as well as the swing dance community of the greater Chicago area.
Flamenco offers classes and performance opportunities to spread the art and culture of Flamenco to the greater UofC community.
Maya maintains a collaborative dance team that serves as a creative forum for the fusion of concepts and techniques from Indian and Western dance forms, including but not limited to Ballet, Modern, Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Indian Folk, and Hip Hop. Emphasis shall be placed on exploration of creative choreography and excellence in technique and form.
PhiNix Dance Crew One of the more recent additions to the UofC dance scene, PhiNix Dance Crew is UChicago's own hip hop dance troupe.
Raas is a very energetic and lively Indian folk dance from the state of Gujarat. Dancers traditionally line up in either circles or lines, and rhythmically hit their dandias (wooden sticks) with their partners’ dandias. The University of Chicago Raas Team welcomes all students and staff to join us in spreading a love for raas dance, cultural awareness, and involvement in the community!
RBIM Rhythmic Bodies in Motion (RBIM) provides a medium through which students could express themselves through dance. They wish to educate the University community about the diversity that exists in dance, and for this reason they encourage styles that deviate from the classics. They promote African, Contemporary Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Belly dancing and more.
South Asian Students Association is a larger organization of UofC students dedicated to South Asian culture whose entertainment branch produces the annual SASA dance show, one of the largest dance productions on campus.
Tap That! provides the UofC community with tap lessons for all levels. Tap That! also organizes tap appreciation events such as movie screenings or group ticket bundles to tap dance performances.
UBallet As the UofC's very own ballet company, University Ballet of Chicago seeks to foster appreciation for ballet by providing performance opportunities and free classical ballet classes for the University and Hyde Park communities.
UC Dancers UC Dancers is the University of Chicago's oldest dance group. UC Dancers aims to foster an encouraging, supportive, and creative environment for dancers of all levels to express themselves through modern and contemporary jazz dance.
